The Classic Antique Pocket Watch
Every time I watch 19th century movies, I always notice men carrying a beautiful pocket watch. This type of timepiece, as the name denotes, is placed in the pocket and is only taken out to know the existing time. A pocket watch is usually encased in metallic silver or gold. The case is artistically designed and often has a latch for easy opening and closing. This classic timepiece also has a chain. Its length will depend as to where the watch will be placed– a longer one will be for the pants pocket and a shorter one will be for the vest pocket. The pocket watch was a status symbol during the early days. If you have one of these then it means that you belong to the high society.
I was browsing a thrift store last week and I saw a beautiful antique pocket watch in gold. Its case has a steam engine engraved in the front. Its gold chain was a bit tarnished but can be cleaned with a solution. The store owner even winded it up to make sure that that it still works. Once I have gotten hold of it, I knew I had to have it. It was like owning a piece of history.
